Machi Sponsors Child Nutrition Education

Two million Nigerian children suffer from protein-energy malnutrition, resulting in death, stunting, or severe fatal medical conditions. Children with allergies or diet restrictions due to congenital diseases are at higher risk. Nigeria is blessed with so many nutritious foods that could address this issue but most parents are not aware of how to improve the nutrient density of their children’s meals. Most of them also rely heavily on imported “baby food” that is most times ladened with preservatives.

At Machi we understand the crucial role that quality nutrition can play in eradicating Malnutrition and its effects. My own son’s feeding challenges could have led to severe malnutrition but through research and practice, I was able to create safe, protein-rich alternatives for him. Today our company Machi has commercialized this solution, providing tasty, nutritious, affordable foods that are made from local super crops. Hence, contributing to the eradication of malnutrition in Nigeria.

We are passionate about making Nutrition safe, delicious and affordable by providing access to foods that hit the mark while also educating parents on the best Nutri or the 5th time in a row, Machi sponsors the NUTRITION4KIDSNG bi-monthly Nutrition Education titled PEDs Nutrition Challenge.

This is geared towards educating, supporting and motivating families to leverage the nutritional resources of Nigeria rather than focusing solely on packaged, imported “baby food” while also providing access to healthier food options; and reorients the minds of parents and guardians on the importance of feeding children healthy homemade meals.
