The first meal we fed our son after exclusive breastfeeding landed us in the hospital, this was followed by a series of allergic reactions to some other foods. With his source of nutrition now limited, we knew that we needed to save him from malnutrition that could result from food eliminations due to multiple allergies. This quest saw us digging into studies and research papers, looking for local and accessible foods with nutrients similar to the ones our son could not eat.

Then we found Bambara Nuts, discovering all the amazing meals and snacks we could make with this Hero crop exposed us to other nutritious Nigerian Food Crops and their culinary potentials. Upon sharing our journey and discoveries with our online community, we realized that there were lots of people in our shoes in need of the safe alternatives we found for our son. This gave birth to the brand Machi and the products we have created.

Nigeria is blessed with so many Nutritional Resources that are still untapped. We should never have to face food insecurity nor our children malnourished because we have all it takes to thrive and provide them with the nutrition that their bodies need.

Therefore, at Machi we are promoting food security and good nutrition by processing Africa’s relegated super foods – Bambara and Egusi into desirable food products that are safe and nutrient-dense alternatives for everyone especially children and adults with allergies or diet restrictions.
