Two million Nigerian children suffer from protein-energy malnutrition, resulting in death, stunting, or severe fatal medical conditions. Children with allergies or diet restrictions due to congenital diseases are at higher risk. Nigeria is blessed with so many nutritious foods that could address this issue but most parents are not aware of how to improve the nutrient density of their children’s meals. Most of them also rely heavily on imported “baby food” that is most times ladened with preservatives.

My own son’s feeding challenges could have led to severe malnutrition but through research and practice, I was able to create safe, protein-rich alternatives for him.
